Sri Lanka Starts Issuing Longer Tourist Visas – Uplifting Tourism

The Tourism Ministry in Sri Lanka has initiated issuing longer tourist visas extending up to six months on single entry to attract more tourists to Sri Lanka. After the COVID-19 pandemic, tourism in Sri Lanka hit a record low, causing the country’s economy to collapse. Extending tourist visas has created interest in many foreign nationals to visit Sri Lanka for longer stays or remote work. While single-entry extensions are 6 months, multiple-entry extensions are up to one year.

Upon the news of the visa extensions, many hotels and resorts have come up with offers and hotel deals in Sri Lanka. It is likely that popular accommodation options on the coast, as well as upcountry such as Hunas Falls, are receiving more bookings for the coming months.
