Sri Lanka to double up tourism count by 2020 – Hopes lit up for tourism

Amidst all chaos that came up in 2019 with the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, Sri Lanka tourism could only attract 1.91 million tourists throughout the year. However, Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has declared, that the government plans and sets strategies to bring 4 million tourists to the country in 2020 generating a revenue of 5 billion U.S. Dollars.

A new long-term marketing plan will be implemented in achieving the target and through this, it is expected to develop the other tourist-friendly regions of Sri Lanka such as Colombo, Kandy, and Galle. Today, a tourist traveling to down south can stay in a boutique hotel in Galle amidst all luxury and comforts, and there are many resorts such as Tamarind Hill that are available to serve tourists. The idea of this long-term plan is to promote this condition throughout the country so that every area gets equally benefited by the industry.
