Sri Lanka to Establish Tourist Zones – An Initiative for Better Tourism

Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister Harin Fernando expressed his concerns about the lack of tourist zones in Sri Lanka and discussed how most popular cities lack activity after 10 pm at night. He proposed establishing tourist zones in popular destinations such as Ella, Mirissa, Haputale, and Arugam Bay. The meeting was held in the presence of President Ranil Wickremesinghe who instructed the officials to plan the necessary initiatives to achieve the tourism goals for 2023.

Sri Lanka resorts, hotels, and villas are experiencing a surge in demand due to the festival season, and many leading hotel chains such as Browns Hotels & Resorts are preparing their properties for the upcoming festivities and celebrations. This time, tourism and hospitality in Sri Lanka can experience higher revenues compared to last year when the country was restricted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
