COVID -19 took a serious hit on the tourism industry of Sri Lanka in 2020. The tourism industry was badly affected and this had a severe impact on the Sri Lankan economy. The country reopened its boundaries for international tourists only in January 2021 and the industry has shown slow but steady improvements since then.
With the prime objective of attracting more international travellers to Sri Lanka, the government plans to launch a global campaign. Many significant stakeholders will be included in this high-level committee and they will be held responsible for the entire campaign. Information about all hotels including the Kandy boutique hotels the likes of Mountbatten Bungalow will also be made available for the tourist crowd via this campaign. Everything about Sri Lanka including the attractions, safety measures, and security will be highlighted throughout.
