Sri Lanka Tourism beats 52 countries to win top award at Global Travel Fair- KOTFA

At Asia Pacific, Korea World Travel Fair which was held from 11th to 15th June, many countries immerged as winners and among the 60 countries that participated in the event, Sri Lanka tourism was recognized and awarded with the “Best Tourism Publicity Award- 2015”. Sri Lanka managed to attract 66, 516 visitors in the 2015 edition of the travel fair. According to the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau, Mr Rohantha Athukorala, there was a 14.5% growth in visitors as at May 2015. The Sri Lankan tourism industry has created a platform for new investors to invest in the island. This has lead to world renowned brands such as Anantara, a part of Minor Hotel Groups to open their newest hotel, Anantara Tangalle Peace Haven Resort in the beautiful city of Tangalle. Hotels belonging to top brands in the world made available in the country will attract international travellers to the pearl of the Indian Ocean and in turn have a considerable impact on the economy and further growth of the tourism sector.
