Sri Lanka Tourism Looks to Draw More Indian Visitors – Special Media FAM Tour Held

As part of its plan to get tourism back on track, Sri Lanka is looking to woo more Indian travellers who are a leading source market to this Indian Ocean destination. As highlighted on The Island news website on 10th December 2022, a media FAM (familiarisation) tour was held last year which saw media personnel from India being taken around the island; these included prominent bloggers, journalists and influencers who would in turn help to promote Sri Lanka amongst Indian tourists.

The media crew were divided into three groups, each covering different aspects of the country. One group was taken to key heritage attractions including UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the Cultural Triangle such as Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, and Sigiriya; the latter is an iconic rock fortress within easy reach of properties like Ayurvie Sigiriya which is an ideal choice for those in search of a holistic ayurvedic retreat. Sri Lanka is also known for its sun-kissed southern coast and scenic hill country which the other two media groups were able to experience.
