Sri Lanka Tourism to Launch New Destination Campaign – Key Tourism Markets to be Targeted

In a move that will further boost the local tourism industry, Sri Lanka is preparing to launch an international destination marketing campaign later this year; this was brought to light on the Daily News website on 22nd August 2023 which further revealed that the campaign has a budget of Rs. 1.4 billion and will kick off on 27th December 2023. It will look to focus the promotion efforts on countries such as India, the UK, Russia, and China which are among the key tourism markets for this South Asian, island nation. Additionally, the Sri Lanka diaspora will also be targeted to draw more of them to visit and help uplift the nation’s economy.

To further encourage travellers, Sri Lanka is looking to take part in several important road shows in the coming months as well. These include the IFTM Top Resa in Paris this October and the World Tourism Market in London, a month later. The country has been welcoming more tourists this year and with such initiatives and promotions in place, it can look forward to even higher arrivals in 2024. Sri Lanka continues to leave travellers spellbound offering much to experience be it in the mountains or coastal destinations like Weligama; resort options to be found here such as Ayurvie Weligama not only offer beachside bliss but also a chance to enjoy a wellness retreat with holistic and tailored-made Ayurvedic treatments.
