Sri Lanka Tourism Trends – Stats on Mirissa

Tourism in Sri Lanka has been increasing at a steady pace throughout the years. Recently, however, the reasons for the growth of the industry has been the internet. Channels such as social media (Facebook taking first place) have been of great assistance when advertising tourism in Sir Lanka. Taking one of the most popular tourist locations, Mirissa as an example, a survey was conducted.

It was deduced from this that 57% percent of those who visited Mirissa found out about the location by searching the internet. 19% of tourists visited after good recommendations by others. The geographical feature that appeared to have had a very high rating is the breathtaking beaches. With the wide range of luxury hotels in Sri Lanka, with options such as Amaya Resorts & Spas, accommodation was rated as excellent. Restaurants were given a rating of fair or good, however, it was stated that the variety of food available was lacking.
