Sri Lankan Government aims to make Colombo more people friendly

The government of Sri Lanka is already on its way launching a plan to develop the city of Colombo to become a more people friendly city. According to Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, the proposed plan in developing the Colombo city will be implemented together with the assistance of the Police, Municipal Council, Urban Development Authority not forgetting the support of the people of Colombo. Safety and security aspects for residents living in high risk areas in the city were also proposed with decisions made to set up police posts for each 500 residencies in the affected areas. Minimising environmental pollution on both sides of the banks of Kelani River and important measures to be taken by the traffic police to reduce traffic congestion were also discussed. Eradication of drug menace was one of the major highlights that was brought up on the agenda. With this new Colombo mixed-use development plan taking off, projects such as One Galle Face with the super luxury Shangri La Colombo soon to open its doors for residency will certainly make the city of Colombo a hive of activity with people from all stratas of life visiting Colombo for various interests and purposes.
