The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for online visas to Sri Lanka has been reinstated making it easy for global travellers to visit this island nation for leisure or business. Previously put on hold, this online system was back in effect from 26th September 2024 and gives travellers a chance to apply for visas without having to visit consulates or embassies in person. While this makes the process much easier, it will no doubt also help to attract more travellers to the island and thereby boost tourism.
The country continues to be a top choice for tourists including those looking to experience Sri Lanka’s rich heritage while staying at the best hotels in Dambulla which can be found in the Cultural Triangle area. Here, eco-friendly properties like Heritance Kandalama provide the ideal base from which to visit historical sites such as Sigiriya, Dambulla, Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa as well as the Minneriya National Park. With the online visa system in place, more travellers can be expected in the coming months, looking to visit such attractions as well as the countless others on offer.
