The World Food Programme’s second Executive Board Meeting took place in Rome, Italy, on the 20th of November 2017. At this meeting, the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for 2018 till 2022 was discussed, and issues relating to nutrition and food security within the nation.
Although Sri Lanka has been doing quite well in recent times, with many a new hotel and resort such as Arie Lagoon opening up, and even more restaurants in Negombo to add to an already wide selection. The WFP, however, has identified several issues within the nation, and these include nutrition for schoolchildren and adolescent girls of reproductive age, and assistance for people affected by either conflict or poverty.
A total of USD 46.8 million has been allocated and approved for this CSP, which will take place over a period of four years.
