As Sri Lanka’s tourism reaches its highest point since 2018, the country has emerged among the top hotel search destinations. At the EME Level-Up: Digital Hospitality Conclave, experts emphasized the need for Sri Lankan hotels to embrace digital planning and personalisation to cater to the growing demand.
With 1.2 million tourist arrivals by July 2024, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) is targeting 2.3 million arrivals by year-end. As hotels in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka like Heritance Tea Factory seek to capture this surge, the focus must shift to seamless online experiences and modernised booking channels. Personalisation is key, with 60% of travellers seeking tailored experiences, and Sri Lankan hotels are encouraged to enhance their direct channels, ensuring a smooth and satisfying booking process. This digital shift is crucial to establishing long-term relationships and building brand loyalty in a competitive market.
