Sri Lanka’s Tourist Arrivals Exceed 900,000 – Country Eyeing 2M Visitors by Year’s End

Sri Lanka, known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage, has achieved a significant milestone in its tourism industry. On 30th August this year, the country surpassed 900,000 tourist arrivals in 2023, signalling a promising recovery in the wake of the global pandemic. According to statistics from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, the island nation had welcomed 900,708 international travellers at the time; in contrast, 719,978 arrivals were recorded for the entirety of 2022.

This bodes well as Sri Lanka is targeting to record a total of two million tourists for 2023. To further attract more travellers, a global promotional campaign has been launched recently as well with the busy winter season around the corner. The country’s picturesque coastline remains a key allure including at east coast destinations like Pasikuda; hotels located beside the pristine shores here such as Amaya Beach Pasikudah continue to draw tourists the world over, looking to experience the sublime beach relaxation and rewarding adventures the island is known for.
