The Sri Lankan Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) revealed that tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka were well over 70,000 during the first 17 days of September, which brought the yearly numbers to 1.43 million. These numbers are impressive considering September was the host month of the crucial Presidential Election, which saw the victory of Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
India continues to dominate tourist arrivals, making up 20.7% of total arrivals, with the UK and Germany following up in close competition with one another, at 7.9% and 7.2% respectively. While China is at fourth with 6.2%, daily scheduled flights from Air China may see greater numbers as the year comes to a close. Aitken Spence Hotels, which has properties renowned among the best hotels in Sri Lanka, will likely benefit from this growing influx of international tourists despite the ongoing challenges.
