Surge in Chinese Visitors to Hong Kong During Lunar New Year – Promising Signs for Local Tourism Sector

Hong Kong, a vibrant city known for its iconic skyline and diverse attractions, has seen a significant surge in Chinese visitors during the Lunar New Year Festival this February. More than 1.2 million travellers from China flocked to this dynamic destination during the eight-day celebration last month, surpassing the figure recorded over the same period in 2018. The Lunar New Year, a time of family reunions and joyous celebrations, was marked by a series of festive events in Hong Kong as well.

One of the key highlights was the Lunar New Year Parade in Tsim Sha Tsui, a major tourist hub known for its entertainment, shopping, and nightlife. Those based here at accommodation providers such as Park Hotel Hong Kong are ideally placed to experience the best of this destination throughout the year. Tourists who stayed at such a Kowloon hotel in Hong Kong also had the chance to easily enjoy the fireworks show at Victoria Harbour, the first in four years during the Lunar New Year. The high visitor turnout during the festival has set the stage for a promising year ahead and not only reflects the city’s resilience but also its enduring appeal as a top destination for travellers.
