Thailand’s government and tourism board have announced a bold plan to further push its tourism sector, aiming to attract 40 million international visitors in 2025. Key initiatives include a series of high-profile cultural, sporting, and entertainment events designed to showcase Thailand’s rich heritage.
Planned highlights will fall under the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism & Sports Year 2025,” the title given to the series of initiatives. The government also intends to focus on eco-tourism, promoting lesser-known destinations like Chiang Rai and Trang to reduce congestion in popular hotspots.
Officials are investing heavily in infrastructure, including expanding major airports and improving transport links. With tourism contributing nearly 20% to Thailand’s GDP, this ambitious strategy signals the country’s commitment to maintaining its status as a top travel destination. Currently, visitors have a wide selection of experiences and accommodations to choose from, whether it be a stay at a luxury hotel in Bangkok, such as the 5-star rated Chatrium Grand Bangkok, or a lively, budget hostel on Khaosan Road.
