Thai Pongal Celebrated in Sri Lanka – A Harvest Festival with Rich Traditions

In January, the Hindu community in Sri Lanka celebrated Thai Pongal with the many traditions and age-old rituals associated with this annual harvest festival. It was held on the first day of the month of Thai in the traditional Tamil calendar and this year, it fell on 15th January 2024.
