Thailand has announced new visa policies aimed at boosting tourism and attracting a variety of visitors, including digital nomads, students, and short-term business travellers.
Citizens of 93 countries can now enjoy visa-free entry for stays of up to 60 days. This is an increase from the previous 30-day limit and can be extended for another 30 days. For those who require a visa, a 15-day Visa on Arrival (VOA) is available for 31 countries at a fee of 2,000 baht.
The Destination Travel Visa (DTV) has been introduced specifically for freelancers and remote workers, allowing them to stay in Thailand for up to 90 days. Students can also benefit from the Non-Immigrant ED Plus visa, which permits stays of up to 270 days.
Currently, the initiatives have shown significant results, with increasing numbers of tourists visiting Thailand, for long-term stays at a city apartment in Bangkok or a short-term holiday at a resort in Phi Phi islands. Hospitality chains have greatly benefited from the arrivals, including both budget accommodations and luxury properties such as SAii Phi Phi Island Village.
