In April this year, Thailand celebrated its traditional New Year known as Songkran on a grand scale once more following the pandemic. This was welcomed by locals and tourists alike who took part in many activities from 13th to 15th April 2023 across the country including the much-loved water fights in various destinations including the capital, Bangkok; family hotel options in the city such as Pathumwan Princess Hotel made an ideal base to enjoy Songkran, while these properties offer easy access to the best of Bangkok throughout the year too.
Before the Thai New Year, the government had already expected an influx of visitors in April and had estimated about 17 to 20 million people would be travelling around Thailand during this time. Additionally, under the “Visit Thailand Year: Amazing New Chapters” initiative by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, locals were also encouraged to travel on public holidays which would boost domestic tourism too.
