After having launched a huge COVID-19 vaccination drive in June this year, Thailand is continuing the push to vaccinate its population; in the process, it also hopes to boost the tourism industry that is slowly getting back on track. This was seen with the launch of the “Phuket Sandbox” initiative on 1st July 2021 whereby vaccinated travellers from low to medium risk nations could enjoy quarantine-free entry to Phuket.
Thailand is hoping to vaccinate around 50 million people by the year’s end; this would constitute approximately 100 million doses to a little over 70% of the nation’s population. The country has also put strict health protocols in place including giving SHA (Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration) certification to properties like Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre; guests staying at such a Khon Kaen hotel can be assured that stringent hygiene and disinfection measures have been adopted for their safety.
