Thailand has been witnessing a boom in tourism with an increase in arrivals when compared to last year as the country looks to rebound following the pandemic. This, in turn, has boosted businesses operating in the tourism industry such as resorts, hotels, travel agencies, restaurants, tour guides and foreign currency exchange services. This was highlighted on the online version of the Bangkok Post news website, based on statistics from the Commerce Ministry’s Business Development Department; accordingly, during this period, resort, hotel, and condo businesses saw a 49.1% increase, while businesses related to tourism which were established newly accounted for 8.10% of the total.
The signs have continued to be positive as arrivals continue to rise. According to Thailand’s Tourism and Sports Ministry, between 1st January and 13th August 2023, the country recorded 16.47 million tourists who spent approximately US$ 9.48 billion. Such travellers are once more heading to popular destinations including the capital, Bangkok; city hotel options beside the Chao Phraya River such as Chatrium Hotel Riverside Bangkok remain an ideal option as Thailand prepares to welcome more tourists in the months to come.
