Thailand Foreign Tourist Arrivals Said Up 4-5% in H1 2017 – A Steady Growth in Tourism

According to Thailand’s tourism minister, the number of tourist arrivals to the country rose by 5% between the months of January to June 2017, compared to the same time last year. It was stated that 18 million arrivals were recorded in the first half of 2017. The tourism industry is the country’s biggest economic sectors. To cater to the steady growth of visitors in cities like Phuket, Siam and Sathorn, hotels and resorts can be found in abundance, especially popular properties such as Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel. It was stated that a majority of these tourists are mainly driven by medical tourism as Thailand is home to its world class hospitals and is recognized as a medical hub catering mainly to Asians and Arabs. Other visitors from Europe, North America and Australia had also been recorded.
