Thailand Sees Boost in Chinese Tourists – Country Also Surpasses 14 Million Arrivals

Following the lifting of travel restrictions by China this year, Thailand has seen a steady increase in Chinese visitors. By the end of April 2023, the country had welcomed over 737,000 travellers from China which was around 30 times more when compared with the same period in 2022. Subsequently, Thailand welcomed approximately 1.6 million tourists from China in the first six months of 2023 with more expected in the second half of the year. The country has seen an influx of travellers not just from China, but other parts of the world too as it gets its tourism industry back on track.

According to the Reuters news website, by 16th July 2023, Thailand had recorded a little over 14 million tourists for the year, which had helped to generate approximately USD 7.11 billion. This Southeast Asian nation continues to draw visitors from around the globe eager to experience its many attractions and take advantage of a diverse range of hotel offers. Phi Phi Islands is amongst the top draws for travellers looking for relaxation and adventure; resorts here like SAii Phi Phi Island Village also provide access to Maya Bay in Ko Phi Phi National Park which was reopened after years of environmental restoration.
