Thailand tourism recovery after a month of reopening – Much-need positive tidings

Thailand, a country with a tourism-dependent economy, felt the blow of the pandemic more seriously than other Asian countries. In 2019, before the pandemic reared its head, Thailand received 40 million tourists, who spent more than USD 50 billion in the country. Things inevitably took a negative turn, but they are starting to look positive, with the country’s decision to reopen its borders.

Thailand received 40 million travellers in 2019, and the number reduced to 200,000 in 2021, which was in line with the forecast. The first ten months of 2020 saw 6.7 million travellers, but the number started dwindling in response to the pandemic. However, with borders now open, the country expects 5 million travellers in 2022 and hopes to be on the trajectory of recovery, even though it could be a rather slow recovery. Hospitality workers now see a glimmer of hope, and those employed at a hotel Khon Kaen can expect a revival of their income. With the borders now open, hospitality establishments like Avani Khon Kaen Hotel & Convention Centre are expected to be packed with leisure and business travellers, and as things stand, it will pass to be more than a mere prediction.
