The Tourist Authority of Thailand (TAT) has planned to re-open its tourist-friendly destinations in several phases. As per the plan, Phuket was the first to be opened for international travel. The officials are monitoring the progress of this ‘Phuket Sandbox’ program and then consider implementing the same strategy to other destinations such as Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, Krabi, and Pattaya.
Ao Nang hotels the likes of Avani Ao Nang Cliff Krabi Resort will now have a prosperous time as they will start receiving international guests. The authorities will consider re-opening other cities such as Bangkok, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and, Buriram after that, but all these will depend on how fast the government finishes the vaccination program for the local community. The target is to vaccinate at least 70% of the population by October 2021.
