Thailand has unveiled new visa measures to stimulate its economy through travel and tourism, effective from 15 July 2024. The 60-day visa exemption now covers nationals from 93 countries, allowing for tourism and short-term business stays, with an option to extend by 30 days.
The Visa on Arrival (VOA) scheme has expanded to include 31 countries, offering 15-day stays for a 2,000 Baht fee. The new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) caters to remote workers and event participants, offering a five-year stay with multiple entries. Additionally, the Student Visa (Non-Immigrant ED Plus) allows foreign students to stay an extra year post-graduation with work opportunities. These changes are expected to benefit luxury accommodations like Avani+ Mai Khao Phuket Suites, a top choice among resorts in Phuket, attracting a broader international audience.
