In May this year, it was brought to light that the European Union (EU) and Thailand have continued discussions regarding new visa agreements and a free trade deal. These potential agreements hold significant promise for boosting economic ties and the tourism industries of both regions. A key proposal involves visa-free entry for EU citizens into Thailand for up to 90 days, a substantial increase from the current 30-day limit. This could lead to longer and more frequent visits by European travellers, generating higher tourism revenue for Thailand while fostering greater cultural exchange as well.
For the Thai tourism industry, increased visitor numbers could translate into higher demand for extended stays, further utilising accommodation services, and enriching local economies. The country has already seen an influx of tourists this year looking to enjoy stays at a luxury hotel in Phuket, a popular island holiday destination. Properties here the likes of SAii Laguna Phuket remain a popular choice and are poised to experience a surge in visitors once an agreement is reached between Thailand and the EU.
