In keeping with the need for increased promotion initiatives, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) recently announced that they planned to participate in 19 international travel fairs this year. This included the addition of two new events to the fair calendar which will see the MMPRC participating at the TTF in Bangalore and Chennai for the first time.
Boot in Düsseldorf, FITUR in Madrid and OTM in Mumbai are amongst the events the MMPRC are participating in January 2019. They will also be taking part in ITB Berlin in March, the largest tourism trade fair in the world. It is hoped that such events will help to bring in more tourists who have the option of staying at a city hotel, guesthouse or a resort in Maldives the likes of Dhigali Maldives. Though there are concerns that the current bed capacity cannot meet an increase in arrivals, 20 new resorts are expected to be opened over the course of the next two years to meet growing demand.
