In a bid to further promote the country, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and representatives from other companies, recently took part in the China International Travel Mart (CITM). This travel mart was hosted at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and ran from 16th to 18th November 2018. When it comes to tourism in Maldives, China is the top market in terms of arrivals and visitors have a range of accommodation options to choose from; this can vary from a guesthouse to a resort Maldives has to offer the likes of Kuramathi Maldives.
In order to attract more visitors, the Maldives stand at the China International Travel Mart also had several novel features; one of these was a competition where visitors had the chance of winning a special gift by taking a selfie and posting it on Chinese social media using the #CITM2018 and #visitmaldives hashtags. There was also VR gear that offered a virtual reality experience of the country’s stunning underwater landscapes.
