The Maldives Closes in on Year-End Arrivals Target – Tourism Master Plan Also Launched

The Maldives has continued to record an ever-increasing rate of international arrivals in 2023 and is on track to achieve its year-end target of 1.9 million tourists. According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, the country had welcomed 1,282,031 travellers up to 13th September this year which was a growth of 13.8% compared to the same period in 2022. At the time, Russia was the highest contributor to arrivals followed by India which previously held the number one position.

This Indian Ocean nation remains a top draw for global travellers looking to experience getaways at private island resorts like Amaya Kuda Rah Maldives; such tourists look forward to everything from enjoying water sports like snorkelling and diving to staying at luxury villas in Maldives. To encourage more visitors, who enjoy such experiences, the fifth tourism master plan by the country’s government has also been launched and will focus on aspects like increasing bed nights and developing the tourism industry.
