The Maldives is Open for All Tourists – A Boon for Global Tourism

The Maldives is open for all tourists who on arrival, are only required to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 96 hours before departure. That said, the country also has stringent health measures in place ensuring tourists can enjoy safe stays. Both these aspects were highlighted by Abdulla Shahid who is the current Maldives Foreign Minister and President-elect of the United Nations General Assembly during his visit to India in July this year.

Such statements came following the nation’s lifting of the travel ban on South Asian tourists also in July; the borders were temporarily closed in May 2021 for those from South Asian countries like India due to the pandemic situation in the respective nations. With quarantine-free travel for all offered once more, arrivals have been on the increase with tourists getting a chance to stay at a luxury resort in Maldives; this includes properties such as Heritance Aarah which offer safe accommodation and premium all-inclusive experiences.
