The Maldives No Longer on the UK’s Red List – A Timely Move That Will Boost Tourism

On 22nd September 2021, the Maldives as removed from the UK’s red list of nations paving the way for more travellers to visit this popular Indian Ocean destination. The country had been previously put on the red list in May 2021, though following its subsequent removal, was placed in the ‘amber list’; a few weeks later, in October this year, the UK did away with both its amber and green lists as well. What all this means is that fully vaccinated travellers from the UK returning from the Maldives, will not have to quarantine or self-isolate at home for 10 days.

This was good news to the tourism industry in the Maldives as it’s looking to achieve its target of 1.3 million arrivals for 2021, while the UK remains amongst the country’s top tourism markets. Travellers have much to enjoy here as well be it experiencing the best places to visit in Maldives or staying at luxury private island resorts; such properties including The Residence Maldives Falhumaafushi by Cenizaro follow stringent health and safety protocols ensuring safe stays too.
