Third Annual Whale Shark Festival

Maamigilli Island was abuzz with excitement over the 3rd annual Whale Shark Festival which was held on the 29th of August 2015. In a collaborative effort between the Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme and community artists, the festival is an endeavour to educate travellers and local communities of the importance of Whale Shark research and conversation. This year the festival was bigger than ever with the participation of 7 local islands and featured a number of creative workshops, stunning art and crafts displays, a new programme called ScienceFest, and a special performance by Unoosha.

If you’re planning some vacation time to the Maldives and are looking for an opportunity to catch sight of some Whale Sharks, the Adaaran Club Rannalhi, located on the tip of the South Male Atoll, is one of the best hotels in Maldives to view marine life responsibly.
