Thirty New Spiders Discovered at Xishuangbanna, China – Exploring a Biodiversity Hotspot

Offering insight into the diversity of the region, 30 new spider species have been found in Xishuangbanna, China. This particular study on spiders, focused on linyphiid spiders in Xishuangbanna which in the past had only a few reported numbers. The research on the linyphiid spiders in southern Yunnan brought into light 30 species that had previously not been seen along with 18 species that had been recorded in the past. The study on spiders carried out by Professor Li Shuqiang was conducted in Huladao within a 200 hectare area. He and his team have studied and collected around 700 species since 2006.
