Thousands of Monks Flood Bangkok Streets for Alms Giving

On Nov 23, 2014, the streets of Bangkok became coloured with yellow robes of the Buddhist monks in Thailand who flocked in to Bangkok’s busy and popular shopping district from all around the country to participate in a mass alms-offering ceremony. The purpose of this united effort was to collect supplies and dried foods for Buddhist monks and civil servants working in the troubled southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narthiwat and Songkhla.

The streets were fully crowded with masses of devotees mostly clad in white who gave generously towards this worthy cause inspired by the goodwill gesture of the Buddhist monks. The massively successful religious and social event was held right in the middle of Bangkok’s favourite shopping malls, complexes and popular accommodations such asAnantara Bangkok Sathorn, one of the famous luxury hotels Bangkok has to offer.
