The prominent temple complex, Tirta Empul, located near the lush green hills of central Bali, famed for its Ubud resorts set among the sloping hills, like the Alila Ubud; will be celebrating its piodalan temple anniversary, on 8th October. Piodalan, which means purification in Sanskrit, marks the anniversary ceremony of the temple and takes place twice a year to purify the souls of Hindu pilgrims in Bali. The Tirta Empul is significant because of the holy spring water located within in temple complex. The spring flows into various purification pools, baths and ponds surrounding the premises, and all flow out into the Tukad Pakerisan River. For Hindu believers, this spring water is considered sacred and respected. And is bewailed to be capable of healing and ensuring prosperity and spirituality among pilgrims who bathe in the waters.
