The Maldives have marked another milestones in their tourist arrivals as they crossed the 750,000 mark in August 2016. A Chinese tourist, who arrived with his family, was the distinguished 750,000th tourist to the Maldives and was welcomed by the Maldivian Minister of Tourism and Ambassador of China to Maldives at the airport. The islands are already famous around the globe for their beautiful tropical settings and exclusive luxury resorts, like the PER AQUUM Hotels & Resorts, and have won numerous travel awards in recognition of its pristine settings. One of the major targets set at the beginning for “Visit Maldives Year 2016” was to hit the 1.5 million tourist mark by the end of 2016; and big events are being held throughout the year, both locally and internationally, to promote and strengthen the tourism industry in the Maldives.
