Tourism in Maldives and Seychelles Continues to Thrive: A Positive Start to 2024

Both the Maldives and Seychelles have shown a positive trend in tourist arrivals for 2024, as they continue to be two of the most tranquil island destinations for travellers.

According to the Seychelles National Bureau of Statistics, the island welcomed a total of 130,371 tourist arrivals from January to June this year, constituting a 5.6% increase from the same period last year. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism Maldives recorded a total of 1,010,866 arrivals as of June 29th 2024, which amounts to a 9.3% increase from 2023.

These are significant trends given that the tourism sector has a considerable impact on the economies of both nations. Both destinations also share similar traits in tourism, with a focus on sustainability, natural wonders and luxury island accommodations. The Maldives in particular has seen a significant increase in the hotel industry. Visitors can now easily find the best hotels in Maldives for families, including private island resorts like Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas.
