Tourism Malaysia Plans to Attract Over 5M Tourists from China – Visa-free Entry Also on Offer

Tourism Malaysia is looking to attract between 5 to 7 million Chinese tourists in 2024. This goal represents a significant increase from the 1.4 million Chinese visitors recorded in 2023. The strategy to achieve this target includes increasing flight frequencies from China and encouraging new airlines in the country to consider promoting Malaysia as a top destination of choice. One example of this was seen on 1st February 2024 when the inaugural Loong Air flight which took off from Hangzhou touched down in Kuala Lumpur.

Additionally, the country began offering a 30-day visa exemption for Chinese tourists which started on 1st December 2023. Such initiatives are also in line with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China which is being celebrated in 2024. Malaysia has continued to attract more travellers this year as well, with the chance to stay at a Bukit Bintang hotel in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Such centrally located properties include Travelodge Bukit Bintang which offers easy access to the city’s shopping, sightseeing, dining, and entertainment hotspots.
