Tourism Operators Hope to Benefit from Baht Giveaway: Businesses make use of Coalition Party efforts

The Pheu Thai Party, a coalition effort that hopes to form a new government in Thailand, has spurred on efforts to bolster the local economy by distributing digital wallets containing 10,000 baht each, with tourism operators hoping the efforts expand from their initial 4-kilometre expenditure radius to have hotels within the area benefit and have customers spend in their vicinity. The expenditure radius stipulates that the 10,000 baht must be spent within 4km of their home address and within 6 months of getting the wallet.

Representatives of the Thai Hotels Association went on to say that domestic consumption will mostly affect restaurants and hotels in their respective areas. This would mean that certain brands, like a specific boutique hotel in Sukhumvit, Bangkok, with the brand name Jono Bangkok Asok, would be the most likely to benefit from this.
