According to figures from the Tourism and Handicrafts Ministry of Tunisia, tourism receipts have increased when compared to the same period last year. For example, in 2021, for the period up to 10th September, tourism receipts were 605 million USD which was a 7.5% increase in comparison to 2019; accordingly, for the same period, tourism receipts totalled 1.674 billion Tunisian dinars which was an increase of 4.7% from last year.
It was additionally revealed that in the first eight months of this year, overnight stays had risen to 4.8 million, an increase of 8.2% which was greatly due to domestic tourism. There was also a 20% increase in European tourist arrivals and it will be hoped that this trend will continue as more travellers visit Tunisia; attractions abound in this destination and properties the likes of The Residence Tunis by Cenizaro offer a luxurious and safe base by the sea from which to visit these sites of interest including ancient Carthage.
