This month saw the much-anticipated Melbourne Music Week 2021 being held featuring a diverse line-up of artists and music styles. This festival marked a welcome return to live music and ran from 3rd to 12th December 2021 at venues and locations across the city within easy reach of hotels in Melbourne; such properties including the likes of PARKROYAL Monash Melbourne also make ideal bases from which to catch future events of Melbourne Music Week being planned for January and February 2022.
While there were more than 300 acts, covering live concerts, DJ sets, live film scores, day parties, industry talks and more, notably, 95% of the line-up was local. The opening of Melbourne Music Week 2021 was held at the MPavilion at Queen Victoria Gardens with “Wominjeka” an event with traditional Aboriginal elements and performances. Another highlight was the Live Music Safari which was held on the last day with free live music at 12 selected venues.
