Tourist Arrivals in Maldives Seeing an Increase – More Positive Signs for Tourism in 2024

Following a record-breaking year for tourist arrivals in 2023, the Maldives has kick-started 2024 by already recording an increase in travellers. According to the country’s Ministry of Tourism, from 1st to 9th January this year, a total of 50,983 tourists were welcomed to the country which was 6.4% more when compared with the same period last year.

In the first nine days of 2024, Russia was the leading source market followed by Italy; meanwhile, travellers from India, the UK, and Germany also enjoyed holidays in Maldives and were among the other significant contributors to the total arrivals. Private island resorts like Kurumba Maldives remain the popular choice for such tourists looking to experience the best of this destination that caters to families, couples, wellness seekers and adventurers alike. With an influx of more tourists expected in the months to come, the country can look forward to reaching and even surpassing its year-end target of 2024 which stands at two million arrivals.
