Travel Restrictions Removed in Thailand – Long-Term Resident Visa Scheme Also Launched

A move that bodes well as Thailand gears up for the busy holiday season ahead, the country’s government removed pandemic-related travel restrictions for tourists. This came into effect on 1st July 2022 and those travelling to Thailand now, no longer need to register for the Thailand Pass to gain entry or pay for medical insurance coverage. Additionally, tourists need to only show a certificate of a full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative result of a professional ATK or RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours before leaving for Thailand.

Such travellers are free to go anywhere they choose including popular destinations like Koh Samui; luxury hotel options here beside the beach such as SAii Koh Samui Choengmon provide the best this island has to offer while also implementing strict health and sanitisation protocols to ensure safe stays. To further encourage more arrivals to the country, on 1st September 2022, the Thai government also launched applications offering foreigners from certain categories a chance to get a 10-year (extendable) long-term resident visa; this comes with benefits such as permission to work here and a multiple re-entry permit amongst other perks which are expected to draw more visitors in the months to come.
