No country felt the impact of the pandemic quite so severely as the tourism-dependent Thailand. In 2019, the country was the most visited in the world with nearly 40 million visitors, and in 2019, the number went down to 6.7 million.
However, with the easing of the restrictions and the vaccines, Thailand has begun to re-emerge as a travel destination. The Phuket Sandbox scheme sheds some hopeful light on the number of visitors, making Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas once again a popular choice among travellers. The country started allowing vaccinated travellers into the country, starting from November 1st. Travellers are required to spend a night at an accredited Phuket resort or hotel, after which, they are permitted to tour the country. All resorts and hotels adhere to safety measures, and the locals wear masks and follow safety protocols, making the country safe for tourists. Tourists are expected to wear face masks when in public spaces and adhere to proper hygiene standards while in Thailand.
