UAE Unveils Falcon LLM: Home-Built Language Model Outperforms ChatGPT3

The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in the UAE has unveiled ‘Falcon LLM,’ a home-built language model with 40 billion parameters that outperforms ChatGPT3. Developed by the AI and Digital Science Research Center, the model is trained on one trillion tokens and uses a fraction of the compute power required by other models. Large language models (LLMs) like Falcon LLM have diverse applications, including chatbots, virtual assistants, translation, content generation, and sentiment analysis. These models can streamline customer service operations, improve efficiency, reduce labor costs, and safeguard data privacy. Dr. Ray O. Johnson, CEO of TII, sees this as the beginning of an AI journey aligned with the UAE’s National AI Strategy. Prof. Mérouane Debbah highlights the potential impact of LLMs on education, healthcare, CGI, and more. Dr. Ebtesam Almazroui emphasizes the UAE’s commitment to innovation and technology. This breakthrough may change the future of the hospitality industry of UAE, home to lavish hotels and resorts, such as Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Sahel Villa Resort, an elegantly designed Abu Dhabi villa.
