From culture to coastlines, Tunisia is poised to welcome a new wave of British travellers

The UK’s Ambassador to Tunisia, Roderick Drummond, has expressed confidence in Tunisia’s ability to attract more British tourists, highlighting a rising interest in the country’s diverse travel offerings. In an interview with TAP, he noted a projected 400,000 British visitors in 2024 — a 60% increase from the previous year.

Drummond pointed to growing demand for independent and personalised travel experiences, particularly among students and families. He emphasised Tunisia’s appeal in niche tourism sectors such as ecotourism, wellness, and cultural heritage, supported by a Mediterranean climate and exceptional cuisine.

As Tunisia shifts away from the standard beach holiday image, premium experiences like The Residence Tunis are redefining upscale tourism. Likewise, catering in Tunis continues to gain attention for its blend of local flavours and fine presentation.

Improved air connectivity also supports growth, with over 60 weekly flights to Enfidha and additional routes to Djerba and Tunis, making Tunisia more accessible than ever to UK travellers.
