Valentine’s Day Cup – Fun Model Boat Sailing Event in The Caribbean

A special event that gave participants and visitors a chance to be involved in a unique traditional model sailboat race, the annual Valentine’s Day Cup took place in Middle Caicos recently. Generally held at Bambarra Beach on the Saturday before Valentine’s Day, this competition is popular with locals and international travellers alike. Those planning to catch all the action at next year’s event and in search of luxury resorts in the Caribbean from which to head to Bambarra Beach can consider Parrot Cay by COMO, Turks & Caicos. Organised by the Middle Caicos Sailing Association, the Valentine’s Day Cup features model sailboats that have been made to scale utilising gum-elemi tree branches. Race categories include Class C for vessels under 30 inches, Class B for vessels between 30 – 45 inches, a Ladies Open Class and the Premier’s Cup Open Class. Apart from the races it also featured entertainment, food and music making it a fun event for the whole family.
