Vietnam’s international tourism to bounce back – Good results expected towards late 2024

A recent workshop in Ho Chi Minh City, titled “Lessons Learned from Target and Recovery,” delved into Vietnam’s tourism industry’s path to international recovery. Optimistically, experts foresee Vietnam potentially regaining up to 80% of its pre-pandemic international tourism levels by the close of 2024.

Nguyen Anh Thu, Chief Research Officer of The Outbox Company, noted that the global tourism sector had already reached 80% of its pre-COVID-19 levels in the first quarter of 2023, primarily propelled by Europe and the Middle East. Meanwhile, in Vietnam, the domestic market has been instrumental in stimulating tourism demand due to the gradual recovery of international tourism. Avani Quy Nhon Resort, a notable hotel in Quy Nhon, Vietnam along with other hotels have seen a gradual increase in the number of domestic tourists wanting to experience a stay.

To effectively navigate these evolving dynamics and ensure sustainable growth, experts advise Vietnam’s tourism sector to adapt its strategies while staying attuned to domestic and international market trends. Given that most countries and territories have reopened for tourism in 2023, businesses can leverage up-to-date market information to inform their strategies for the 2023-2024 period.
