Visit the Demodara 9 Arches Bridge – A Must Visit Spot in Ella!

The Demodara 9 Arches Bridge is a massive railway connection which is located between the Demodara and Ella railway stations. The construction of the bridge, which commenced during the British Raj was taken over and completed by a local resident by the name of Mr P.K. Appuhamy and his team.  A testament to local architectural ingenuity, the bridge has been constructed using only cement, bricks and stones sans any steel.

Currently, the bridge and the surrounding areas, especially many Badulla and Bandarawela hotels have experienced a steady influx of tourists and photographers who flock there to take in the picturesque vistas. Visiting tourists can take in the scenic countryside and fresh mountain air in Ella, while easily finding places to stay in accommodations such as Bandarawela Hotel. Advance bookings are recommended as the peak seasons find the locality bustling with many travellers.
